Villa Roccabruna and the Giuditta Pasta Estate
A soprano holds court by the lake while Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Manzoni and Stendhal pass through her orbit. Giuditta Pasta’s estate was Lake Como’s operatic salon long before it became a luxury resort.

Warum der Umweg sich lohnt
Soprano Giuditta Pasta bought this Lake Como estate in 1827 and drew Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, Manzoni and Stendhal into her artistic circle. Although her original residence was later replaced by Villa Roccabruna, parts of the older estate survive within today’s Mandarin Oriental resort.
Villa Roccabruna, part of the Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como resort, is a historic estate once owned by soprano Giuditta Pasta. It is notable for its artistic heritage, having hosted luminaries like Bellini and Rossini.
