Warum der Umweg sich lohnt
Near the east entrance of Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery stood the official residence where rebels shot Chamberlain Suzuki Kantarō three times. His wife pleaded against a final sword stroke, and Suzuki unexpectedly survived—then became prime minister during Japan’s surrender in 1945.
This site marks the location where Chamberlain Suzuki Kantarō was shot by rebels, an event that he survived against the odds. He later became Japan's prime minister during the country's surrender in World War II.
