Warum der Umweg sich lohnt

The tower began as the bell tower of Vyborg's cathedral, rising within the fortified town whose churches and houses stood behind the wall attacked in 1495. It survived the transfer of Vyborg from Sweden to Russia after the 1710 siege, later becoming both a clock tower and a fire lookout while the adjoining cathedral fell into ruin. The Clock Tower in Vyborg started as a bell tower for the cathedral and later served as a fire lookout. It is a historical landmark that survived the city's transfer from Sweden to Russia in 1710.
