Old Customs House

Why it is worth the detour

This riverside customs building once collected duties from arriving ships and became a haunting symbol of Bangkok's nineteenth-century trading boom.

The Old Customs House in Bangkok, built in 1888, is a neo-Palladian architectural landmark on the Chao Phraya River. It is currently undergoing restoration to become a luxury hotel.
