Born in Dresden in 1890, Lotte Hahm was a prominent activist in Berlin’s lesbian movement during the Weimar Republic, the National Socialist period, and, after 1949, the Federal Republic of Germany. She organized clubs and events, wrote articles, and worked to connect lesbian women and improve their social situation.

Berlin’s largest lesbian clubs
Together with Käthe Reinhardt, Hahm ran the largest lesbian clubs of the 1920s. They had up to 2,000 members, and gatherings drew as many as 500 participants.
Building lesbian networks
Hahm wrote articles, organized lectures, readings, and excursions, and supported the establishment of lesbian networks in other cities.
The D’Eon association
In 1929, Hahm co-founded the Transvestite Association D’Eon, described as the world’s first organization of transgender people.
Gatherings at the Jägerhof Casino
Hahm founded the Violetta club and organized its large queer gatherings at the Jägerhof Casino. A memorial stele at the former casino commemorates her connection to the site.
