Paul van Dyk is a German DJ, record producer and musician who began producing trance in the early 1990s. He performed at Berlin’s E-Werk during the club’s influential 1990s period. He later received international recognition, and by 2008 had sold more than three million albums worldwide.

His 1993 remix of Humate’s "Love Stimulation" brought him early popularity, followed by the hit single "For an Angel". His 2003 album "Reflections" made him the first artist nominated for a Grammy Award in the newly introduced Best Dance/Electronic Album category.
Van Dyk said he chose his Belgian-sounding stage name because he included many Belgian dance records in his DJ sets in the early 1990s.
