Czech and Slovak soldiers sent by the Czechoslovak government-in-exile ambushed Heydrich in Prague on 27 May 1942. He died from sepsis caused by his injuries on 4 June 1942.

Reinhard Heydrich

Reinhard Heydrich was a high-ranking SS and police official in Nazi Germany and one of the principal architects of the Holocaust. He led the Reich Security Main Office and, as Deputy Reich-Protector of Bohemia and Moravia, suppressed Czech resistance through arrests, deportations and executions. He was buried at Invalids' Cemetery in Berlin.

From September 1939, Heydrich headed the Reich Security Main Office, which included the Gestapo, criminal police and Security Service. He was directly responsible for the Einsatzgruppen, whose mass shootings and gassings murdered more than two million people, including 1.3 million Jews.
The Wannsee Conference
In January 1942, Heydrich chaired the Wannsee Conference, which formalised plans for the deportation and genocide of Jews in German-occupied Europe.
