Walter Gropius (1883–1969) was a German-American architect and a leading proponent of the International Style. He founded the Bauhaus in Weimar before emigrating to England in 1934 and the United States in 1937. He later taught at the Harvard Graduate School of Design and helped establish The Architects Collaborative.
