Nimmanhaemin: the newer grid of cafes and shops west of the moat, by the university. Day and evening here are coffee and shopfronts, not a temple inside the walls.
Why go
Come in the afternoon. In the morning some doors are still shut, and the old city is the more honest walk.
Where to stay
Worth it if you want these streets rather than dawn at the gate. The river is a ride across the whole square.

The main road runs north to south. The numbered sois turn east, toward the university, not toward the river.
