An overview day by scooter or motorbike through western Chiang Mai and Doi Suthep. From Wat Chet Yot and the Kruba Srivichai Monument, climb to Huay Kaew and Monthathan waterfalls, the forest monastery of Wat Pha Lat, Doi Suthep Temple and the roadside Doi Pui viewpoint. After descending, explore One Nimman and the Nimman neighbourhood, the white mausoleums at Wat Suan Dok, Wat Umong's tunnels and the craft village of Baan Kang Wat. The route contains 15 stops: 12 main stops and three optional visits — Bhubing Palace gardens, the Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders, and the Lanna Traditional House Museum. Choose at most one of those optional visits for this day. Allow 8–9 hours including stops and lunch; the preliminary driving distance is 55–70 km.

One Nimman
The development occupies the end of a street whose annual Nimmanhaemin Art and Design Promenade helped turn a once isolated, overgrown area into a commercial creative district. Its monumental brick arcades and public square package Lanna, European and Newar references into a polished destination with room for markets, performances, shoppers and tour buses—a vivid marker of Nimman's shift from artist quarter to lifestyle brand.
11
Nimmanhaemin Road
Nimman began as a planned residential grid on land that had included rice fields and orchards, attracting university staff, civil servants and students because of nearby Chiang Mai University. Galleries, cafés and design businesses helped make it fashionable, but intensive tourism and private investment subsequently brought condos, rising property values and a changing residential character.
12
Lanna Traditional House Museum
These transplanted historic houses at Chiang Mai University provide an unusually fitting setting for hearing and studying music once played in domestic courtyards. The museum’s cultural program and archive document salo-sueng performances and melodies such as Tang Chiang Mai and Noi Chaiya, preserving both sound and the social world in which it developed.
13
Wat Suan Dok
A historic Buddhist temple with a large bell-shaped chedi and royal mausoleums.
14
Wat Umong Suan Phutthatham
Ancient tunnels and tranquil natural setting.
15
Baan Kang Wat
Ceramicist Nattawut Ruckprasit conceived this clustered village so small creative businesses could share gardens, events and a communal amphitheater instead of struggling alone with city rents. Opened in 2014, it has hosted exhibitions by nearby CMU students, photography, film festivals and workshops, while its popularity also shows how quickly an artist enclave can become a visitor destination.
