The city under the hill: the cathedral, the Royal Chapel and Plaza Nueva, with the Monasterio de San Jerónimo further north. The Alhambra sits higher and further east. Its ring does not come down here.

After the Alhambra, or on the morning of the second day. Chapel and cathedral are better before the midday heat.
The flattest place for a suitcase. The cathedral is a walk. The Albaicín is already a climb, and the Alhambra is a bus or a long step.

Plaza Nueva is the level point under the hill: the cathedral and the Royal Chapel are a few streets west, and San Jerónimo is farther north. The climb east toward the Alhambra already leaves the district.
