The cave valley east of the Albaicín: Venta El Gallo, the zambra of María la Canastera and the Sacromonte Abbey.
Come in the evening, for a zambra. By day the road is dusty, and the abbey is a long way from the cathedral.
No reason to sleep here unless the caves are the point of the trip. The path is steep. The suitcase stays in the lower town.

This is a separate climb east of the Albaicín, along the cave road, not the courts of the Alhambra. The abbey is at the far end and the way back is the same road down, so on the slope you want shoes that hold on the stone.
