Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts
Under Julian Fałat, the conservative art school was promoted to academy status in 1900 and filled with professors who became leading figures of Young Poland. Its studios trained both the movement’s future stars and youthful rebels such as the Group of Five, while arguments begun here regularly continued in nearby cafés over absinthe and coffee.
