Temples on the slope
東山
Sannenzaka, Gion, Kiyomizu
The eastern hills: Kiyomizu, Sannenzaka and Gion by the river. This is the first morning, while the streets up to the temple are still empty and the stone is not hot yet.

Kiyomizu, the Sannenzaka slope and the Gion streets by the Kamo.
Come when the temples open. By evening Gion remains. The slopes themselves are already crowded and in shadow.
Worth it if you want to walk to a temple at dawn. The station and Arashiyama are a ride from here.

Kiyomizu stands at the top of the slope. Gion starts at the bottom, already by the river, and that is the evening, not the climb.
