Why go
Come after dark, when the yards by the museum are open. Mornings here are warehouses and little shade.
Where to stay
A night works if the evening matters more than a morning at the cathedral. The Alcazaba is across the Alameda. A suitcase is easier than in the old lanes.

After the old centre, cross the Alameda to the south. Tomás Heredia holds the quarter, and the contemporary art centre and the theatre sit in the same few blocks: an evening walk, separate from the climb to the Alcazaba.
