Morning or late afternoon, when the park has shade. At noon the castle courts are open and full.
Where to stay
Sleep by the park only if you want the castle at first light. The park empties in the evening. The suitcase is calmer in Brera or by the Duomo.

You can walk through the castle: the park is already visible from the courtyard, which is shorter than going around the walls. The Arco della Pace is at the far end of the avenue; the Triennale is on the western edge of the same lawn, not beyond the arch.
