Former factory yards south of the centre, murals since Vulica Brasil

Oktyabrskaya, Fabrichnaya
A factory street south of the railway tracks, on the ground of old Lyakhovka. Machine-tool halls and the former tannery buildings, including the 1895 block at 23a, stand along tram rails that no longer carry cars. Since 2014 the Vulica Brasil festival has painted these walls: a gusli player, Frida and Van Gogh, large works on the workshops. Between the blocks are yards, bars and studios. October Square and the Palace of the Republic belong to the avenue walk. This street is a separate trip.

By day, while the light is on the walls. Toward evening the yards open. The night is industrial, louder than Trinity Suburb and thinner than Zybitskaya was in the mid-2010s. Some of the old bars have closed or changed their signs. People still come for the murals and for a counter. In winter the wind between the halls is harder than on the avenue.
For anyone who wants the murals outside and does not mind a former factory instead of tiled roofs. The Upper Town is a long walk. Pervomayskaya metro is about ten minutes on foot, closer than a glance at the centre suggests. For a quiet night and the river, sleep in Trinity Suburb or on the hill.
