Rozhdestvenskaya at the foot of the Kremlin and the main fair building across the Oka are the lower walk. The hill with Pokrovskaya stays above the slope.
Why go
After the upper town, in the second half of the day. In the evening the lights on Rozhdestvenskaya are stronger than on Pokrovskaya.
Where to stay
A night by the river if you want the bottom, not the hill. The climb to the Kremlin is on foot, and the suitcase stays down.

Rozhdestvenskaya runs under the hill, along the Nizhne-Volzhskaya embankment. The main fair building stands across the Oka, on the Strelka. Pokrovskaya stays up on the hill.
