Bobrinsky Palace
This became the Saint Petersburg seat of the Bobrinskys, descendants of Catherine the Great and her lover Grigory Orlov. Their founder Alexei had been born in secrecy shortly before Catherine seized the throne—the delivery was concealed from her husband Peter III by arranging a distracting house fire elsewhere in the city.
