Diocletian’s palace and the Riva are one walk: the Peristil, the Cathedral of Saint Domnius and the Split Riva along the water. The walls are the streets, not a second district. Marjan stays outside.

Come inside the palace in the morning, before the courts fill. In the evening stay on the Riva, when the palace is already shut.
Sleep inside the walls or right on the Riva if you want the Peristil on foot at opening. A suitcase is tight on the cardo.

The palace walls here are streets: the Peristyle is the crossing in the middle, and the Riva is the south edge on the water. Marjan is the hill outside.
