For a guest, Mtatsminda is the holy mountain above Rustaveli, not the administrative district that also takes in Vera and Sololaki. From below, off Chonkadze, the funicular climbs to the rim of the park. On the slope, around Mamadaviti church, is the pantheon of writers and public figures. At the top are the park, the tower and the city at night. The lower streets, Besiki among them, are residential and quiet.

Known for

The funicular from Chonkadze, the pantheon by Mamadaviti church, and the view from the rim of the park.

Why go

Go up in the afternoon and stay until dark: the city lights are the reason for the ride. The pantheon is a separate stop on the slope. You cannot see it from the amusement park.

Where to stay

Sleep on the slope only if you are ready to walk up and to turn in early. Most people do better sleeping below, in Vera or Sololaki, and riding the funicular.

The funicular lets you out at the park. The pantheon is lower, by Mamadaviti, and is not inside the amusement park. They are two different stops.
