The Detinets and Saint Sophia Cathedral are the left bank of the Volkhov. Yaroslav Court is visible across the river and is not in this ring.

Why go
The first morning inside the walls. After midday the walls are busy, so the cathedral is better early.
Where to stay
Sleep by the Detinets for the quiet after closing. The Court is over the bridge, and the suitcase stays on the Sophia side.

You leave for the Trade Side through the Prechistenskaya Arch: the footbridge starts there and ends at the arcade of Yaroslav’s Court. From the west, from the town, you enter the Detinets by other gates. The cathedral stands inside the walls. The Court is visible from the east wall, and it is outside this walk.
