  Monumental Cemetery of Verona

  Begun in 1828 on the left bank of the Adige, the cemetery helped reshape movement through this formerly peripheral part of the city and was one reason for building Ponte Aleardi. Its avenues bring together elaborate family monuments, military graves and the tombs of figures whose careers ended far from the stories that made them famous.
