Vlasyevskaya Tower
During Pskov's independence, merchants entering from the floating bridge passed through these gates and presented their goods to merchant elders, making the tower both fortress and republican customs post. Tolls were collected here, the gates were locked at night, and trade could proceed only after local officials gave permission.

Veche Square
This space inside the Pskov Kremlin was the political stage of the republic: the citywide veche chose officials, called or dismissed princes, debated war and peace, and approved laws. On January 13, 1510, Moscow ordered the assembly abolished and its bell removed, turning the square into the scene of Pskov's lost independence.
