Villa Margherita Ricordi
Publisher Giulio Ricordi commissioned this musical villa in 1853, reportedly using proceeds from Verdi's Il trovatore. Tradition holds that Verdi worked here on music for La traviata, playing his spinet in a lakeside salon during evenings remembered by contemporaries as almost theatrical performances in themselves.
