Luigi Zuccoli was an Italian painter whose scenes of domestic life found admirers abroad, while in Como his name is linked to the construction of Casa Giuliani-Frigerio.
Born in Milan in 1815, Luigi Zuccoli studied at the school of Pelagio Palagi and became a member of the Milanese Academy. He was best known for genre scenes and images of Italian domestic life, which gained popularity beyond Italy. His career took him to England and Belgium, and his paintings appeared at the Royal Academy. In Como, his story is attached to Casa Giuliani-Frigerio, where he supervised and developed construction details from instructions sent by Terragni during military service.

The First Christian Martyrs
In 1855, Zuccoli sent The First Christian Martyrs to an exhibition at the Imperial Academy of Arts. Critic Vasily Botkin praised its strength, light and colour, though he also considered the painting too theatrical.
Milan's revolution on canvas
For the 1862 Exhibition, Zuccoli painted an episode from the Revolution of 1848 in Milan. He later exhibited occasionally at the Royal Academy between 1864 and 1871.

At Casa Giuliani-Frigerio in Como, Zuccoli supervised the work and developed construction details. He followed instructions sent by Terragni while Terragni was away on military service.
