Ridley Scott is an English filmmaker whose work spans science fiction, crime, and historical epics. After beginning his career in television and advertising, he made his feature-film debut with The Duellists in 1977 and gained wider recognition with Alien. His films have grossed a cumulative $5 billion worldwide. For House of Gucci, he filmed Villa del Balbiano as Aldo Gucci’s Lake Como residence.
Born on 30 November 1937, Scott studied at the Royal College of Art in London. He began his career as a television designer and director, then moved into advertising before making his feature-film debut with The Duellists in 1977.
