Why it is worth the detour

The citadel above the meeting of the Pskova and Velikaya was the final defensive core behind Dovmont’s Town. In March 1299, after Livonian knights ravaged the suburb and besieged the fortress, Prince Dovmont led the Pskov forces that defeated them in what became his last campaign.

The Pskov Krom, also known as the Pskov Kremlin, is a historic citadel in Pskov, Russia, with origins dating back to the medieval period. It played a significant role in the city's defense, particularly during the siege by Livonian knights in 1299.
