Coffee, wine counters and Vera Park

Leo Kiacheli, Mikheil Zandukeli, Kostava
Vera sits between Rustaveli metro and the start of Vake. Short streets, brick houses, Soviet blocks, and on the corner either a coffee shop or a wine counter with a handful of tables. Fewer postcard tourists than under Narikala. Half a day covers Kiacheli, Vera Park and the Blue Monastery. The round concert hall stands on Kostava, at the western edge.

Mornings are for coffee, evenings for wine, and both are away from the queue at the fortress. Come here the day after the Old Town balconies. The Saturday flea market at the Dry Bridge is lower, toward the river, already outside this grid.
For couples and longer stays that want quieter nights than the Old Town and a walk to the museums on Rustaveli. Nights are calmer than on Shardeni. Meidan is not the next lane: allow a bridge or one metro stop.

When a rally fills the parliament stretch of Rustaveli, walk a parallel street: the metro keeps running. The Old Town's evening noise barely reaches here.
