The crossing that stays full
Shibuya · 渋谷
the crossing by Hachiko, Center-gai, Dogenzaka
Shibuya is the crossing in front of the station, the Hachiko statue, and a crowd that moves every way at once. Center-gai runs north from it. Dogenzaka climbs southwest, with clubs and small halls. What you watch here is how the neighbourhood works at night, not the buildings.

Toward evening and at night. The crossing is full by day as well, but Shibuya is the choice once the signs light up and people stay. In the morning there is nothing to do in the square except cross it.
For anyone who wants the night city without a train. Loud, young, and the station is one of the main junctions. There will not be a quiet morning. Harajuku and Shimokitazawa are short rides when the day should be something else.

Hachiko stands at the northwest corner of the crossing. Center-gai runs north from it. Nonbei Yokocho is the narrow bar crack just north of the station, at the south edge of Miyashita Park. Watch only the screens over the crossing and you will walk past it.
