Clock Tower
The tower began as the bell tower of Vyborg's cathedral, rising within the fortified town whose churches and houses stood behind the wall attacked in 1495. It survived the transfer of Vyborg from Sweden to Russia after the 1710 siege, later becoming both a clock tower and a fire lookout while the adjoining cathedral fell into ruin. Friedrichshamn Gate
These gates once controlled the fortified road west toward Friedrichshamn, forcing travellers through successive walls, ditches and a ravelin. The surrounding trenches later acquired a darker history: after White forces captured Vyborg in April 1918, Russian civilians were among those executed near the gates.
