The far side of the Golden Horn: Galata Tower, İstiklal Avenue and Taksim Square. Across the bridge from Sultanahmet, not one ring with the historic peninsula.
Galata Tower, İstiklal and Taksim Square stand on the far side of the Golden Horn.
Come in the evening, when İstiklal is full. In the morning the tower has no queue and Taksim is still empty.
Worth a night if the evening matters more than dawn at Hagia Sophia. Topkapı is across the bridge in the morning. A suitcase is easier on İstiklal than on the Galata slope.

Cross the bridge first: Galata is the tower above the water, and İstiklal climbs from the Tünel end up to Taksim. The historic peninsula stays on the other side of the Horn.
