The Pskov Krom, Trinity Cathedral and Dovmont town hold the fortress by the river. The Gremyachaya Tower and the Pokrovskaya Tower continue the walls, and St George church so Vzvoza stands further south on the same bank.

Sleep here: the fortress and the churches start at the door. The crossings to Mirozh and Ivanovsky are daytime walks, so leave the suitcase by the Krom.

Enter the Krom through Dovmont’s town: Trinity Cathedral stands higher, on the point. The Gremyachaya Tower continues the wall along the Pskova, the Pokrovskaya Tower along the Velikaya, and there is no second kremlin there. The church of St George from Vzvoz is farther south on the same bank; you go down to it from the wall.

- Pskov Krom — The citadel above the meeting of the Pskova and Velikaya was the final defensive core behind Dovmont’s Town. In March 1299, after Livonian knights ravaged the suburb and besieged the fortress, Prince Dovmont led the Pskov forces that defeated them in what became his last campaign.

- Pokrovskaya Tower — This enormous corner tower became the focal point of Stefan Báthory’s assault in September 1581. Artillery shattered the tower and adjoining wall, but defenders counterattacked inside the ruins and expelled troops who had already gained a foothold.

- Srednyaya Tower, Pskov — An eastern tower of the Pskov Kremlin, part of the city's historic fortifications.
- Veche Square — This space inside the Pskov Kremlin was the political stage of the republic: the citywide veche chose officials, called or dismissed princes, debated war and peace, and approved laws. On January 13, 1510, Moscow ordered the assembly abolished and its bell removed, turning the square into the scene of Pskov's lost independence.
- Vlasyevskaya Tower — During Pskov's independence, merchants entering from the floating bridge passed through these gates and presented their goods to merchant elders, making the tower both fortress and republican customs post. Tolls were collected here, the gates were locked at night, and trade could proceed only after local officials gave permission.
