The old centre north of the cathedral: the Metropol Parasol on Plaza de la Encarnación, the Iglesia del Divino Salvador and the Palacio de las Dueñas toward Macarena. The next quarter on from Santa Cruz, still one city on foot.

The Metropol Parasol, also called the Setas, on Plaza de la Encarnación, the Salvador church and the Palacio de las Dueñas closer to La Macarena.
Come by day, when the cathedral queue is long or the doors are shut. Plaza de la Encarnación stays lively in the evening.
A practical base if you want both the cathedral and the market in the morning. Quieter at night than Santa Cruz. The streets are tight for a suitcase.

From Santa Cruz this is the next quarter north, still on foot. The Setas stand on Plaza de la Encarnación, and Las Dueñas is farther toward La Macarena: leave the palace for the far end and do not loop back to the cathedral.
