Kagurazaka is the slope up from Iidabashi. Shops and restaurants climb the main street, and cobbled lanes turn off it past old houses that still receive guests in the old private style. By day it is simply a hill. In the evening the signs come on, and the neighbourhood becomes about dinner.

Come toward evening. By day the slope is a half-hour look. It earns the walk when the side lanes wake up and people sit down to eat. Late at night it ends sooner than Kabukicho.
A short, quiet place to sleep if you want dinner outside the door. The area is small and uphill. There are no clubs. Shinjuku and Ginza are one change from Iidabashi.

From Iidabashi, walk up Kagurazaka-dori. The interest is in the turns: Hyogo Yokocho and Kakurenbo Yokocho are cobbled and narrow. Not every door there is open to guests. Some of the houses are homes.
