Perché vale la deviazione
Opened in 1934, Jinsheng was a six-story arcade cinema backed by returned overseas merchants and remembered as Guangzhou’s first air-conditioned movie house. The auditorium was demolished during redevelopment in 2010, but the surviving entrance and sign remain like a stage set for a theater that has vanished behind them.
The Former Jinsheng Cinema, opened in 1934, was Guangzhou's first air-conditioned movie house. Although the auditorium was demolished in 2010, the entrance and sign remain as a nostalgic reminder of its past.

Taihua Library
Scholar-official Li Wentian used this secluded building as a study and private library reputed to contain around 100,000 volumes. War dispersed part of the collection, while further books, paintings and calligraphy disappeared during the Cultural Revolution, leaving the restored rooms as the shell of a once celebrated scholarly treasure house.

Luan Yu Hall
This small guild hall belongs to the martial performers of Cantonese opera—the specialists responsible for combat, acrobatics, falls, and dangerous stage business. Its name refers to the palanquin they traditionally carried while guarding the image of theatrical patron deity Huaguang during processions; practitioners still demonstrate southern-style opera combat and the red-boat wooden dummy tradition here.
250 m
Bruce Lee Ancestral House
The house is better understood as the home of Bruce Lee’s father, Lee Hoi-chuen, one of Cantonese opera’s celebrated comic-role performers in the 1940s. The restored Xiguan residence links two performance traditions: the stylized combat of Cantonese opera and the screen martial arts that Bruce Lee later transformed into a global phenomenon.
700 m
Zhan Tianyou Former Residence
Railway engineer Zhan Tianyou was born and spent his childhood in a Xiguan merchant household here; his ancestors had prospered in the tea trade. The family home once looked toward Liubo Creek and its boats, a vanished waterscape far removed from the mountain railway for which Zhan later became famous.
