The mission

The story that starts before the first puzzle.

May 1899. Como is celebrating a century of the invention that remade the world: a hundred years earlier, a local boy named Alessandro Volta built the first electric battery. The jubilee pavilions hold his instruments, manuscripts, the very Voltaic pile. One July night the exhibition burns to the ground. The cause: a short circuit. Volta’s invention destroys the memory of Volta.

Official reports say almost everything was lost. But in a 1899 file, archivist Elvira Conti recently found a letter from the exhibition’s curator, Cesare Ceresole. An hour before the fire he carried out one object — the last pile assembled by Volta’s own hands — and hid it somewhere in the city. He never told even his wife where. Instead of an address, Ceresole left a trail: ten marks cut into the stone of Como. “Whoever walks the trail to the end will know what to do with the last volt,” the letter finishes.

Elvira would unravel the trail herself, but the archive is being watched. A certain Collector has already offered her a six-figure sum for the letter; refused, he promised to take the pile without her. She needs people no one would suspect. Tourists. You.

Your brief

Walk Ceresole’s trail: ten places, ten puzzles, ten letter tokens. Collect them all and you will learn what he wanted done with the last volt. And try to stay ahead of the Collector — he is already in town.

Questions before you unlock

Is this a guided tour?

No. It is a self-guided story in the app: you walk, listen and solve puzzles. No meeting point with a human guide, no fixed start time.

Will it spoil the puzzles?

This page only shares the prologue and the places you visit. Challenges, answers and plot twists stay inside the app.

Do I need tickets or bookings?

The quest itself is played outdoors from stop to stop. If a landmark has a paid interior, you can enjoy the challenge from outside unless the story asks otherwise.

Can we play as a group?

Yes. One unlock covers the people walking together on one phone, or each person can unlock their own copy. Split up only when the story asks you to.

What if I lose signal?

Download the quest once in the app. After that the map and audio work offline — useful in old streets and courtyards.

How long does it take?

Plan for about 2 h and 4.2 km. You can pause anytime; progress stays in the app.
