Marjanishvili is the flat, guest end of lower Chugureti on the left bank, not the hilly district behind it. From the metro comes the square, then Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue: the restored stretch is closed to cars and lined with terraces. Nearby are the Marjanishvili Theatre and the courtyard of a former sewing factory, where people sit late. The Old Town is two metro stops away, and the feeling is different: bakeries, workshops and ordinary houses.

Aghmashenebeli Avenue in the evening, and Dezerter Bazaar by the station in the morning.
People come here to eat and to stay on. By day the avenue is an easy walk. Friday and Saturday are loud, especially around the factory courtyard. In the morning, for cheese, churchkhela and pickles, walk toward the station to Dezerter Bazaar. It is alive in the morning and fades by evening.
For anyone who wants dinner at the door and the metro. Weekend nights are loud. A light sleeper eats on the avenue and leaves the suitcase in Sololaki or Vera.

Older drivers still call Marjanishvili Plekhanov. It is the same square. At Dezerter, bring small notes: large ones are hard to change.
